The Filmography: The Series Finale

For more than five years, my old Entertainment Weekly pal Derek J. Lawrence and I hosted a weekly podcast called The Filmography. The premise was simple: Pick a star, run down their credits, and see what kind of narratives shake out. It gave us the opportunity to riff on a whole bunch of movies, and allowed for all kinds of fun diversions. Sometimes we would focus on a director, and sometimes we’d run down franchises. If we were circling back to an actor, we wrote up our respective top 10s for that person.

It was a great show, and you can still listen to most all of the archive (it’s literally hundreds of episodes!) under Entertainment Now on the SiriusXM app. But there is at least one episode missing, and that’s the series finale Derek and I produced after SXM decided they didn’t need me anymore. I didn’t like the idea of doing work and then having nobody listen to it, so I’m giving it a world premiere right here.

For our final show, Derek and I each made lists of our respective top 10 movies of all time. We talk a little bit about our methodology at the top and then dive into discussing the movies that are the most important to us. It’s raw audio but it sounds pretty good. I’m proud of my list and I know Derek is too, and it was nice to listen back to this and enjoy the bonhomie we’ve built up over the course of half a decade talking to each other about our (probably unhealthy!) ciniphilia. I hope you feel the same.
